About BusShelters.ca

Engineered bus shelters for every Canadian climate — standard, solar, heated, accessible, smart and custom. Installed Canada-wide.

Our Story

How we got here

BusShelters. ca was founded in Brantford, Ontario in 1998 as a regional shelter fabricator serving Toronto-area municipalities. Over the next two decades the company expanded province by province — first into Quebec and the Maritimes, then across the Prairies, then onto the West Coast and into the territories. Today we deliver to every Canadian transit authority of meaningful scale, every major Canadian university and hospital network, and a long list of corporate, retail, and developer clients. Our headquarters and primary fabrication plant remain in Brantford, supported by regional install partnerships in BC, Alberta, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada.

What hasn't changed is our engineering posture. Every shelter still ships with stamped engineering for the destination province's snow load, wind load, frost depth, and accessibility code — no generic catalogue drawings, no jurisdiction shortcuts. The aluminum extrusion family at the core of our product line dates from a 2003 redesign that's been refined every five years since; the same extrusion runs from a 4 ft single-rider shelter to a 60 ft BRT-station canopy. Continuity of platform makes long-term maintenance straightforward — a 2008 panel still fits a 2026 shelter.

Why Choose Us

Why BusShelters.ca

We are the Canadian specialist — not a US or European brand with a Canadian distributor. Every product is designed against NBCC 2020, CSA B651-18, and the provincial accessibility-act stack from day one. Every install crew is bonded and insured to Canadian provincial trade-permit standards with active WSIB / CNESST / WCB clearance. Every documentation pack arrives in the format Canadian transit-authority and municipal-procurement teams expect, including CCDC-compatible pricing and SAEA-format Indigenous-procurement documentation where applicable.
